Despite its private and away from it all location Galowras is just 1.5 miles from the busy fishing village of Mevagissey with its many small shops, galleries, pubs and excellent restaurants.Fishing trips and pleasure cruises can be arranged from the harbour aboard the Bessie Vee with local skipper Dave Hunkin. In the summer months the passenger ferry the Bessie James runs a regular service between Mevagissey and Fowey. By car The Lost Gardens of Heligan are just 5 minutes from Galowras, while The Eden Project is within a half hours drive as is the Cathedral City of Truro and the Hall for Cornwall.

For those that prefer to walk, Portmellon cove and the coastal footpath are a short distance down the valley through the ancient oak woods
